neelamangala.jpgIt was a warm evening, people returning to their homes. The sun about to set, tall buildings silhouetted against the horizon. 258C was the Bus No. which brought 3 of the TVA (Tibetan Volunteers for Animals) members to the Neelamangala Tibetan Hostel. They had come not just to talk about animal rights but also to pass a message of peace and non-violence to the younger generation. TVA screened the documentary “Law of Nature” on a small projector screen. The Institute of Small Trade Learning at Neelamangla has a total strength of 68 students, doing various vocational courses including Computer hardware, Organic Farming, Beautician Courses etc. Managed by the Department of Home, CTA Dharamsala; this project is aimed at providing quality education and building a platform for the young Tibetans to develop their skills and learn.

Like all the other previous TVA campaigns, there came a positive change at the Hostel. Majority of the students raised their hands in support for banning Meat in the hostel so meat will no longer be served at the hostel.

The following 8 people signed a lifetime commitment not to eat meat:

Tsering Dolma (Hunsur) Sanzin Wangmo (Kamrong) Tsering Choedon (Herbertpur) Dhundup Topgyal (Mundgod) Tashi Sangpo (Orissa) Lobsang Tashi (Kollegal) Phuntsok Norbu (Shimla) Yangchen Dolkar (Bangalore)

TVA expresses its heartfelt gratitude towards everyone and especially towards Mr. Rinzin Namgyal Lak, Managing staff and Mr. Kunchok Lak for their kind support and hospitality. Millions of people around the world are adopting vegetarianism, including pop stars, actors, musicians, athletes, celebrities; wont you join them?
