Friday October 4, 2007 Hunsur Rabgyaling Tibetan Settlement, Gurupura
Tibetan Volunteers for Animals launched its first animal welfare program - We CARE on October 4th 2007. To
begin with, TVA in-coordination with Phende Hospital, Hunsur Gurupura
organized Anti-Rabies and Animal treatment Program on October 4th and
5th 2007 with the help of Dr. Mujiburrahman from Hunsur Veterinary
Hospital. A recent case of Rabies in which a 38-year old lady named
Kamala from the nearby Hosoor Village died, triggered the program. To
stop an epidemic from happening, TVA initiated this program.
The
Program was well received by the local people. There are total 13
Tibetan Villages in Hunsur and a total population of 4200 (including
monks in the monasteries) resides in these villages.
Pamphlets were also distributed to educate people about rabies.
